Heroes - any difference between same prof. heroes?
Is there any difference apart from looks between heroes of the same profession?
That is - if I give two heroes of the same profession the exact same build will they play identically or not? |

Yes they will. The only difference between heroes is their species when you have the non-human heroes. And that only matters for disease since it only spreads between creatures of the same species.

I know this is probably just "random" bad luck, but for some reason, when I make Olias MM he ALWAYS hides in the back spamming Death Nova, whilst with Master of Whispers, well he usually keeps up all the time.
However, when I put Olias on hexes, he NEVER spams hexes like he should untill I actually pinged/attacked a few times (5 seconds delay). However, with Master of Whispers, he ALWAYS has perfect hex placement etc... IT'S A CONSPIRACY, A CONSPIRACY I TELLS YA! |

My Livia is always miles behind the rest of us when she is MM, using death nova etc. I have Olias on hexes and he is always charging in like a maniac when I attack, he goes right up to the foes!
I also have a problem with Sousuke who is very aggro happy, always running into mobs. |

^ I had that problem with Livia o.0
I had to stop bringing her after the Friday update, because for some unknown reason, she would run off to ANY enemy I had target, even if he was on edge of radar... I checked she was on Defensive stand (Middle one), She DIDN'T have any skills qeued... Quest she was having a bad week? :s Now it's miracly fixed tough, but ye, sometimes my heroes just go completely Leeroy on me... (Not just once, no matter how many times I rezone etc, the same hero just keeps Leeroying in there...) |

its very wierd but iv found that some heros seem to be ment to be given the type of skills that they came with, dunkoro for example i have personally found (it might be different for others) sucks with prot spells, i find he just has general casting problems, whereas talkora on the other hand, when given the same build is wonderful. i find that souske is best with fire, and zhed stops becoming a deathbag with water/earth. this may all be coincidence, but it seems that it may be plausable...

It seems to me that Livia is a better MM than Olias. Might just be my imagination, but it seems that way.

I suddenly had a flash back to when I first aquired Master of Whispers and exited out of Kodash Bazar. He went straight off on his own towards a distant group of Kornan soldiers that were barely even on my radar.
Biggest problem I've had of late is heros refusing to obey their flags. They come to a certain point then won't come closer even when flag is reset. Sometimes when I remove/cancel a flag my heros run away from me instead of towards me, never a good sight to see when your a war low on health.... |

I've learned that I have to flag Livia (my MM) next to me or she does stay way behind and cast death nova/jagged bones/aegis/whatever other possible enchant she can cast without actually doing anything.
Ah well, heroes are not human, just machines. We learn and adapt. The only real problems I ever run into is when they actually change the hero AI. Then it's like learning to use them all over again. |

Olias and Livia would not make as many minions as they should, all they would do is cast Death Nova.
As soon as I took Death Nova away from Olias and Livia, they started playing right. Keeping up and making minions as they should. |

Thank you for the replies.
Even though they contradict each other somewhat and some are slightly off topic they certainly provided some insight. |

I don't know how many times I've seen Zhed charge right up into the face of a mob to cast something like SF. He's also set to guard and doesn't have any "adjacent too" type of spells on his bar either.
Leaves me dumbfounded it does. |

In general, I don't believe there is a difference in the AI between heroes of the same type. Any problem I have with a build continues to exist regardless of which hero I use with it. |

As you can see, some say they have different, some say they don't. I've never been able to tell a difference in them myself - if they do then it isn't something major.
Like others I have problems with them sometimes deciding to ignore flags, calls, and other things. I find ignoring calls to be *highly* frustrating and they all seem to do it at the same time. Several times I've tried to get them to kill a monk boss in factions or nightfall only to have the spread out their damage on multiple warriors - lot of good that does anyone given how Factions and Nightfall bosses work and how little they can damage those warriors by themselves. They also sometimes all group up in a bunch and stand there watching me go in to aggro everything on my Dervish. I know that with spells like Jagged Bones and Death nova they tend to do that - almost any non-combat related upkeep spell they will do it also (Mantra of Recall, Aura of Restoration, etc) but they have such a long recharge that they can't be standing around casting it instead of doing what you want. However, from time to time *everyone* stands back there to just watch even with none of those spells on anyone. While AI is a hard thing to write, I've sometimes wondered if stuff like that is on purpose to try and "encourage" grouping. |

I find that Vekk for me is very aggro-happy, he just charges at the next group, and for some reason, he's always right beside me when fighting. He also seems to ALWAYS reach 60 dp the fastest.
